The best memory foam pillow I've used, November 22, 2010 This review is from: Serta Extra Support Memory Foam Grande Pillow (Kitchen) Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?) This is the third type of memory foam pillow I've used. The first one was the standard contoured memory foam pillow. Those were great and I used them for at least 3-4 years. After that amount of time they had broken down too much to provide adequate support. I then bought some firmer contoured memory foam pillows but found they hurt my head and were uncomfortable.
For the past year I've been using good quality gussetted down alternative pillows and hadn't been able to find a comfortable memory foam pillow until this one.
This pillow is amazing no matter if you sleep on your back, side, or belly. The memory is just perfect for providing support and soft comfort at the same time. They're a little big but will fit in a standard pillow case. I would recommend queen cases for these (perhaps my standard pillow cases run small). I've always used feather/down pillows, so this was an interesting change. Initially I found it much to hard compared to what I was used to, but after a week or so I became used to it and found that the support it provides is actually rather comfortable. I'm not moving my head as much when I sleep, which means I'm sleeping a little more soundly. However I also noticed that the pillow tends to firm up the cooler the room is--it softens with body heat but the initial contact with the cold pillow isn't exactly cushy.

I like memory foam - I have two thick memory foam mattress toppers and two memory foam pillows. The Serta Gusseted Memory Foam Pillow makes a nice addition to my bed and is currently my second preferred sleeping pillow. It is without a doubt my number one pillow for propping up sore legs/feet.
The Serta pillow is heavy - much heavier than any other pillow I own and is constructed of high quality dense memory foam. The pillow comes with a thick quilted cotton cover which can be removed. In my opinion, the cover is a requirement for a memory foam pillow. This cover is much nicer than the terry cloth covers which are often provided with other memory foam pillows. As other reviewers have noted, memory foam reacts to body heat, and often retains heat. This can be a bit uncomfortable in summer months; I have found that the presence of a cover and pillow cases (I use two), will alleviate most of the heat retention.
